Crewsouth performs live shots for news networks all the time, but some of our biggest clients include UK’s  ITV and Australia’s Seven Network.  Because the Crewsouth studio is available 24/7, ITV can schedule local U.S. newsmakers and political analysts for their morning show Good Morning Britain.  These interviews usually occur between midnight and 2:00 A.M. The Dana Dolly is a great tool for creating moving shots without the expense and logistical issues of a traditional camera dolly. While a traditional camera dolly is large, hard to transport, and requires a crew to move while shooting, a Dana Dolly is lightweight, can be assembled in minutes, and can be moved by the camera operator. Crewsouth’s live shot studio is used all of the time by news and sports networks such as CNN, ESPN, HLN, NFL Network, The Weather Channel, and NBC News. Our new 75 inch HD television monitor allows us to display any image or background at any network’s request. Crewsouth streams the video over a high-speed fiber connection by using LTN Global, which allows television networks all over the world to use our studio for live shots and video feeds.  

Crewsouth went to the Alabama Gulf Coast to visit the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. We worked with Alabama Public Television and the University of Alabama for the nature documentary series Discovering Alabama. The picture is from a slow motion shoot from around the Gulf of Mexico and the Mobile Bay. This lightning strike appeared for only one frame! The video is from 4K footage shot with the Sony PXW-FS7.  

Crewsouth regularly works as ENG news crews for all of the television networks throughout the south. Crewsouth was in Nashville, Tennessee as the camera crew for NBC News and The Today Show. We were right on the red carpet at the CMT Awards, interviewing some of country music’s biggest names. NBC’s fashion correspondent Lilliana Vasquez talked to Florida Georgia Line, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, and Tim McGraw and about their nominations, awards, as well as their bold fashion choices.

When providing camera crew services, CrewSouth often delivers the content directly to the producers after a shoot. It is critical to the producer that content be of the highest quality and ready to use. We are proud to offer a wide range of video and audio recording formats along with expert media handling as another way to meet the needs of our clients.

For CrewSouth, LED lighting has really changed and enhanced the way we work. The flexibility to go battery power and move around the set more quickly yields truly amazing results.

One of our favorite new audio toys is the Zoom H6. The CrewSouth broadcast team appreciates it’s flexibility on the front end for isolated audio track recording with multiple lav wearing talent. Post production loves the back end audio level control.

If you’ve seen shots of CrewSouth at work, you’ve probably seen our Sony FS7. We just love it and it is one of our favorite tools to ensure great results for our broadcast clients. The large sensor depth of field control coupled with a ton of useful ENG features allows for faster documentary style shooting with beautiful results. Each camera and manufacturer has it’s strengths and weaknesses, but the mix of features and image quality delivered by the FS7 makes it a perfect fit for what we do.

CrewSouth enjoyed working with Harry Smith and NBC Nightly News on a recent story about the Mississippi state flag. We filmed the segment inside the beautiful William F. Winter Archives & History building in Jackson.
